Analysts estimate January snowstorms cut casino visits and revenue

Deals & M&A

Analysts at Jefferies Equity Research and J.P. Morgan assessed January weather’s effect on North American land-based casinos. Jefferies analyst David Katz estimated that visits at 65% of normal would mean a 3.1% revenue decline, rising to 5.7% in areas hardest hit; J.P. Morgan analyst Daniel Politzer said visits fell 5.4% but forecast winnings growth of 2%.

The contrasting estimates give casino operators and investors figures for assessing weather-related trading effects.
