Altenar is to supply sports betting technology, Nordic trading expertise and localised content for Wildz Group's planned entry into Finland's regulated online gambling market, according to company statements. Wildz Group, a Malta-based igaming operator, said it had publicly announced that it obtained an online gambling licence in Finland, which would allow it to operate once the regulated market opens.
Finland's regulated online gambling market is expected to open in July 2027. The licence application process opened on 1 March 2026 and drew interest from operators ahead of the planned opening, according to the statements. Finland is among the last European countries to replace a state monopoly with a licensing model for online gambling.
Altenar and Wildz Group have been partners since 2024, a collaboration the companies said supports the operator's expansion beyond a model focused mainly on casino across various markets. The Finnish entry continues that work, with Altenar's regional experience, its trading specialists for the Nordic countries and its localised content described as pillars of the operator's growth strategy.
Sam Brown, chief executive of Wildz Group, said Altenar had been central to the company's global sports betting offering and that it expected a strong response in Finland once the market opens in July 2027. He said the flexibility of Altenar's tools would allow the operator to build a sports betting experience for Finnish players.
Dinos Stranomitis, chief operating officer of Altenar, said Finland's move towards a competitive online gambling market is an important development for the industry, and that entering a newly regulated market requires suitable technology, flexibility and a clear understanding of local requirements. He said Altenar was supporting Wildz Group's entry into Finland with sports betting technology designed to adapt to different market conditions and business objectives.
For Altenar, the partnership reflects its focus on supplying sports betting technology that lets operators enter regulated markets with the flexibility to adapt their offering to local requirements and long-term business objectives, according to the statements.
