Licences & markets

Alberta’s regulated online gaming market opened on 13 July 2026, with Altenar, Pragmatic Play and Tonybet announcing moves into the province. Altenar said it had secured approval from the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission; Pragmatic Play said its products were certified, while Tonybet announced it had received an iGaming licence from the commission.

The market opening creates entry opportunities for suppliers and operators, while the companies’ differing approvals determine their status in Alberta.
