Agricultural groups urge CFTC to assess prediction contracts’ effects on commodity markets
The National Pork Producers Council and 20 other agricultural groups asked the CFTC to examine possible effects of prediction-market contracts linked to agricultural commodities. In a letter, they warned that these contracts could affect price signals, liquidity and traditional risk-management markets, and raised concerns about differences in federal price and position limits.
Any CFTC response could affect how prediction-market contracts linked to agricultural commodities operate.
