ANJL challenged the Brazilian government's blocking of regulated betting websites and social channels on Tuesday. The association questioned the legal basis for requiring operators to use their infrastructure to redirect websites to a government address. ANJL said its LegitBet system recorded 30.282 active, accessible illegal betting links.
Brazil's National Association of Games and Lotteries (ANJL) has challenged the federal government's blocking of regulated betting operators' websites and social channels, the association said. The blocks were applied in the early hours of Tuesday 6 October, and operators' sites were redirected to the address brasilsembets.gov.br. ANJL said it sent a letter on Monday 5 October to the National Secretariat for Digital Rights (Sedigi), the National Secretariat for Public Security (Senasp) and the Secretariat of Prizes and Betting (SPA) requesting reconsideration and urgent clarification of the measure, and that it had received no response.
