MCMC removes 724,879 gambling-related items and blocks 2,603 websites in Malaysia
Malaysia’s MCMC removed 724,879 online gambling-related items from 1 January 2025 to 31 October 2026, Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching said. The figure represented 98% of 738,372 takedown requests; MCMC also worked with service providers and enforcement agencies to block 2,603 sites. From January to July 2026, it blocked 573 gambling websites and removed 253,424 items.
Operators and service providers face substantial takedown and blocking activity, while regulators’ figures distinguish content removal from police enforcement.
