Nigerian state gaming regulators reject FCCPC sales promotion rules

The Federation of State Gaming Regulators of Nigeria has opposed parts of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission's Sales Promotion Regulations 2026, arguing they extend federal authority over lotteries, casino gaming and games of chance reserved to states. In a statement shared with The Guardian, the group said the rules conflict with a Supreme Court position established in November 2024 and could create overlapping approval, licensing and supervisory structures.
