- Cyprus considers restricting gambling access for minimum-income recipients
Cypriot lawmakers, regulators and public bodies are considering ways to prevent Guaranteed Minimum Income recipients from using state support for gambling; no ban has been approved. Options include restricted-use payment cards, checks against casino access-card applications and adding recipients to the online self-exclusion system. The casino regulator reported increased gambling activity around the middle of the month from 2023, but said this does not establish that recipients caused the rise.
