Wisconsin governor opens tribal talks on online sports betting rollout
Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers has begun discussions with leaders of the state’s 11 federally recognised tribes on implementing online sports betting, his spokeswoman said. Statewide mobile wagering requires renegotiated gaming compacts approved by the tribes, Wisconsin and the Bureau of Indian Affairs. Evers supports a joint venture with equal participation, but tribal leaders will decide their approach.
Operators’ access to statewide mobile wagering depends on compact renegotiations and approval by tribes, Wisconsin and federal authorities.
