Washington, DC online gambling bill remains pending amid lobbying
The Internet Gaming and Consumer Protection Act of 2026, introduced in March by Ward 7 Councilmember Wendell Felder, has not advanced since a public hearing in May. The Sports Betting Alliance reportedly spends $41,000 a month on local lobbying for the bill, while American Future reportedly spent $417,000 on election mailers; Felder supported regulation, while Councilmember Christina Henderson criticised the proposal’s effect on gambling addiction.
The bill has stalled after a public hearing, leaving the prospects of a regulated online market in Washington, DC uncertain.
