The Wisconsin Elections Commission has warned that residents who bet on elections through prediction markets could lose their right to vote. The commission said state law prohibits election wagering and cited statute 6.03, which disqualifies electors.
US state election officials are considering safeguards as trading on 2026 elections grows on platforms including Kalshi and Polymarket. Proposals include restrictions on election workers’ trading and public education about market prices. Court disputes continue over states’ authority to regulate prediction markets under gambling laws.
Penn Entertainment CEO Jay Snowden said election results could improve prospects for gaming proposals in Texas, Georgia, Pennsylvania and Missouri. He described the outcome as positive for Penn and the industry, while noting that the effect of Pennsylvania’s October skill-games shutdown on revenue growth in the state remained uncertain.

Reportedly, DraftKings and FanDuel contributed $7m to the campaign seeking to legalise online sports betting in Nebraska. Tax Relief Nebraska, which supports Initiative Measures 440 and 441, has raised $14.6m ahead of Election Day.
A Citrin-POLITICO poll found that half of registered voters in California would accept regulated sports betting limited to tribal casinos and sportsbooks located there. The poll found that 37% would support online sports wagering, while most state residents apparently opposed legalising iGaming and online sportsbooks.
