VNLOK takes Meta to court over illegal gambling advertisements in the Netherlands
Dutch gambling trade body VNLOK said it is taking Meta to court and has complained to the European Commission, alleging that illegal gambling advertisements remain widespread on Facebook and Instagram. VNLOK said its research found more than 70,000 gambling ads reached Dutch users in the final quarter of 2025, with over 95% from illegal providers; it claims Meta removed less than 5%.
