Victor Negrescu proposes EU-wide online gambling tax

Regulation

European Parliament vice-president Victor Negrescu has proposed a coordinated EU tax on online gambling and betting companies, reportedly through an amendment signed by more than 20 MEPs. He estimates annual revenue of €2bn to €4bn and as much as €28bn over the EU budget cycle; the proposal also calls for 20% of the long-term EU budget to go to education and vocational training.

A coordinated EU tax proposal could affect gambling companies’ taxation and direct revenue toward education and vocational training.
