US Senate Commerce Committee seeks MLB betting-fraud records by 5 December
The US Senate Commerce Committee opened an investigation into allegations that Cleveland Guardians pitchers Emmanuel Clase and Luis Ortiz manipulated pitches to affect betting outcomes. Chair Ted Cruz and ranking member Maria Cantwell asked Major League Baseball to provide its monitoring and investigation records by 5 December, including when it identified the alleged conduct.
The inquiry may bring closer scrutiny of leagues’ processes for detecting betting-related manipulation.
