Underdog challenges five states over sports-event contracts
Underdog filed lawsuits in Ohio, Massachusetts, Wisconsin, New Mexico and Washington state, seeking to stop state authorities from regulating or ending its event-contract offering. The company argues that federal oversight gives the CFTC exclusive jurisdiction and seeks permanent injunctions and declaratory judgments; it filed after surrendering daily fantasy sports licences in seven states.
The lawsuits test whether state gambling laws apply to Underdog’s event contracts under federal oversight.
