UKGC fines Paddy Power and Betfair operators £2m over customer safeguards

Enforcement & compliance

The Gambling Commission fined four operators trading as Paddy Power and Betfair £2m after finding social responsibility and customer-interaction failings. The regulator said one customer staked £86,000 over 16 days and lost £6,000 before a manual review; Flutter said its safety systems have since evolved and disputed that the reviewed customers suffered harm.

The findings underline operators’ exposure when customer risk indicators do not prompt timely intervention.
