The Gambling Commission announced that Sarah Fox has joined its leadership team on secondment from the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport. She will oversee policy, research and statistics, as well as National Lottery regulation, after leading the department’s Gambling and Lotteries team for four years.
The Gambling Commission published its third annual Gambling Survey for Great Britain, covering participation, behaviour and attitudes from 2023 to 2025. The survey found that 47% of adults reported gambling in the four weeks before the 2025 survey, while 2.4% recorded a PGSI score of at least 8.

The Betting and Gaming Council has issued an open letter calling on major UK technology platforms to tackle illegal gambling advertising. The letter, signed by chief executive Grainne Hurst, asks platforms to identify and remove adverts, increase enforcement resources and work with regulators and law enforcement; it cites estimates that illegal operators account for nearly half of UK gambling advertising spend.
