UK Gambling Commission accuses Meta of allowing illegal gambling ads

Regulation

UK Gambling Commission executive director Tim Miller accused Meta of failing to prevent illegal gambling advertisements on its platforms, including ads targeting British consumers, according to the report. Miller said the commission had found promotions for unlicensed operators in Meta’s searchable ad library, including ads aimed at people who had self-excluded. He also said Meta had encouraged the commission to use its own tools to identify and report ads.

The criticism puts pressure on an advertising platform used to reach UK gambling consumers to address unlicensed operators’ promotions.
