Uganda gaming regulator outlines regional cooperation and offshore enforcement
At SIGMA Africa 2026, Uganda’s National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board chief executive Denis Mudene Ngabirano described plans to work with regional regulators and government agencies against unlicensed offshore operators. He said the board tracks payment providers to disrupt unauthorised financial flows and noted that mobile money handles 99% of gaming transactions in Uganda.
Operators using mobile money face closer transaction monitoring as Uganda pursues enforcement against unlicensed offshore businesses.
