The Star Entertainment has announced Ameet Patel as dual chief executive of The Star Brisbane and The Star Gold Coast, subject to regulatory approval. Patel replaces Daniel Finch in Brisbane and Jennifer Cronin, who was interim chief executive in Gold Coast; the company said it looked forward to working with him.
The appointments remain subject to regulatory approval at two casino properties.

The Star Entertainment Group reported group EBITDA of A$12 million for the September quarter of FY27, compared with a A$13 million loss a year earlier. The company said the NSW Independent Casino Commission had advised that The Star Sydney’s licence suspension would continue, with its appointed manager remaining until 30 June 2027 unless the commission ends the role sooner; Queensland oversight measures also remain in place.
The Star Entertainment Group reported normalised FY26 revenue of $1.101bn and an EBITDA loss of $16m, compared with $1.125bn and a $76m loss respectively in FY25. The company said July revenue at its Sydney and Gold Coast properties rose 6% year on year; it also warned that licensing, banking and other uncertainties cast substantial doubt on its ability to continue as a going concern.
The Star Sydney casino’s licence suspension reportedly runs until June 2027. The supplied report does not name the authority responsible for the suspension.
Reportedly, the NICC declined to find The Star Sydney suitable to regain its casino licence. The regulator extended the manager’s term until mid-2027.
Queensland’s government information page describes how casino applicants are selected and lists four casino licence holders. It also says operators must notify other casino operators about gambling exclusions from 30 September 2024 and record their decisions on whether to apply an exclusion.
