State of Mexico authorities seize 3,374 gambling machines in July operation

Enforcement & compliance

The State of Mexico Attorney General’s Office led an operation that seized 3,374 coin-operated gambling machines across 84 municipalities in July, reportedly. Authorities alleged that the machines generated revenue for criminal groups and exposed minors to gambling risks. Machine owners represented by UNAMA protested in Toluca on 19 August, seeking the return of the equipment and clarification about the investigations.

The seizures and ownership challenge create legal uncertainty for operators of coin-operated gambling machines in the state.
