Spanish bingo participation falls to 10.4% in 2025 as women's share rises

Regulation · SectorWire deskSource published 2 min read

Some 10.4% of Spain's population recalled visiting a bingo during 2025, down from 11% in 2024, according to the Juego y Sociedad report. The report describes participation as relatively balanced between men and women, with higher incidence among people aged 55 to 64 and a pattern of occasional attendance.

Women recorded a participation rate of 11.1%, above the 9.6% for men. The report said this reverses the relationship observed in 2021, when the male rate was 6.6% against 5.6% for women.

By age, the 55-64 group had the highest rate in 2025 at 14.7%, down from 18.4% the previous year. It was followed by people aged 65 to 75 at 12% and the 45-54 segment at 9.7%. Among younger groups, 9% of those aged 25 to 34 said they had visited a bingo, against 8.8% of those aged 35 to 44, while the 18-24 band stood at 6.3%, below 8% in 2024.

By socioeconomic status, participation reached 11.4% in the middle-middle segment, 11.3% in the upper-middle and 11.1% in the high segment. The lower-middle segment recorded 8.2% and the low status 3.2%. The report noted that the low-status series shows significant swings, including 0% in 2023, and said its variations should be interpreted with caution.

By nationality, 10.6% of Spaniards recalled visiting a bingo, against 7.1% of non-Spanish residents. The report said the non-Spanish category varied sharply over the period analysed, from 0.5% in 2022 to 12.6% in 2024.

Among those who had visited a bingo, 61.8% said they went once a year, against 57.4% in 2024, and a further 26.8% said they almost never went. Monthly visits accounted for 6.5% and 2.9% attended every two or three weeks. Those attending every week fell to 2%, from 6.7% in 2024.

The total share of the population recalling a bingo visit rose from 6.1% in 2021 to 10.4% in 2025, after reaching its period maximum of 11% in 2024. The report's methodological note states that participation percentages indicate the proportion of each population segment that recalls attending a bingo and do not represent the percentage distribution of total customers; the study also warns that series for small segments may show significant annual swings because of sample sizes.
