South Korea orders internet providers to block Polymarket

Enforcement & compliance

South Korea’s Korea Media and Communications Commission voted this week to block access to Polymarket, ruling that the platform facilitates illegal gambling. The order takes effect immediately and requires internet service providers to block the website and app; people who use a VPN to bypass the restriction face fines of up to KRW10 million.

The decision removes Polymarket access in South Korea and exposes users who circumvent the block to fines.
