South Australian regulator proposes AU$21m SkyCity Adelaide settlement

Enforcement & compliance

South Australia's gambling regulator has reached a non-binding, in-principle settlement with SkyCity Adelaide and its parent, SkyCity Entertainment Group, reportedly. The proposal includes an AU$21 million fine and compliance requirements, including independent board appointments by 1 January 2028 and phasing out cash transactions above AU$4,999. The agreement would give the liquor and gambling commissioner power to issue binding directions to the parent on operations under the South Australian casino licence.

The proposed settlement would impose compliance requirements and extend the commissioner’s direction powers to SkyCity’s parent.
