Roanoke council backs continued casino discussions in Virginia
Roanoke City Council members and residents discussed a possible casino in the Virginia city at the council’s final meeting of the year. Mayor Joe Cobb said most councillors support continuing deliberations, while several residents and at least two councillors opposed the proposal; state legislation would be needed before Roanoke could authorise a casino.
A casino proposal would require action by Virginia’s legislature before Roanoke could permit gambling.
