Churchill Downs and NYRA seek dismissal of CAW betting lawsuit

Regulation

Churchill Downs, the New York Racing Association and other defendants asked a federal court in the US to dismiss a lawsuit over computer-assisted wagering. The defendants dispute the plaintiffs’ claims of financial harm and argue that the allegations do not meet the requirements of RICO and other laws; a hearing is scheduled for 9 October.

The dismissal request tests whether the CAW lawsuit’s financial-harm claims meet RICO and other legal requirements.
