Rhode Island seeks injunction against Kalshi and Polymarket sports contracts
Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Neronha filed a lawsuit on 21 May seeking to block Kalshi and Polymarket from offering sports event contracts in the state. Neronha argues the contracts amount to sports wagering subject to Rhode Island gambling laws; the companies say they fall under federal CFTC oversight instead.
The case could determine whether state gambling laws apply to prediction-market sports contracts in Rhode Island.
