Río Negro proposal would allow Indigenous communities to seek casino licences

Regulation

A proposal promoted by La Libertad Avanza provincial treasurer Roberto Zgaib would allow Indigenous communities in Río Negro to seek state licences for casinos, bingo halls and slot machines. The draft would cap casino licences at four during its first three years and require licensed communities to report annually to the provincial legislature. The proposal still depends on submission and consideration by the provincial legislature and decisions by provincial authorities and the communities.

If adopted, the proposal would create a licensing route for eligible Indigenous communities to operate gambling venues.
