Puglia court annuls police decision cancelling betting shop licence

Regulation

The Lecce section of Puglia’s regional administrative court annulled the Brindisi police decision cancelling a betting shop’s public-security licence in Mesagne. The court found that the administration had not heard the licence holder or adequately explained the current public interest supporting the cancellation. It rejected the damages claim, and said the administration could issue further measures.

The ruling restores the licence cancellation dispute to the administration while allowing further action and rejecting compensation.
