Polymarket temporarily suspended trading on its international platform after a cyber incident that reportedly caused losses of about $2.7m and affected more than 700 users. The company said it would reimburse the affected traders in full. Trading was later restored, and the incident was reported to the British authorities.

According to the report, the breach did not directly affect Polymarket's own infrastructure but a third-party technology provider based in the United Kingdom. The attackers were said to have exploited users' sessions to carry out unauthorised transactions and move funds to digital wallets under their control. Polymarket US, the United States platform that runs on separate infrastructure, was not involved, the report said.

The episode follows an earlier cyber incident recorded in June 2026, according to the report. The report linked the incident to security risks for cryptocurrency-based prediction markets, including those arising from the use of external technology services.
