Peruvian lawmaker proposes raising online betting consumption tax to 5%
Peruvian deputy Luis Masco Cáceres introduced a bill proposing to raise the selective consumption tax on remote games and sports betting from 1% to 5%. The proposal would retain the tax base of each wager and estimates annual revenue rising from about PEN 324 million to PEN 1.62 billion; it would require implementation measures by the Executive, Economy Ministry and Sunat.
If enacted, the proposal would raise the tax rate operators face on each covered wager from 1% to 5%.
