Peruvian bill proposes 5% consumption tax on online bets

Regulation

A bill presented in Peru proposes raising the selective consumption tax on online bets from 1% to 5%, reportedly. The proposed tax would remain separate from the existing 12% tax on gross gaming revenue, and the 5% rate would apply from the first day of the month after publication if the bill passes. The proposal estimates receipts of up to 1.62 billion soles.

If approved, the proposal would raise the stated tax rate applied to online bets, affecting operators’ tax exposure in Peru.
