Pennsylvania assessment links online gambling to more than half of hotline calls

Regulation

A Pennsylvania assessment prepared for the Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs says more than half of calls from state residents to 1-800-GAMBLER concern online gambling. The assessment found that as many as 30% of adults gambled online in the past year, compared with 20% in the prior year’s survey; DDAP Secretary Latika Davis-Jones said the findings will guide expanded services, including case management.

The findings may inform operators’ and regulators’ responses to online gambling-related harm in Pennsylvania.
