Paraguay government proposes independent gambling regulator and enforcement powers
The Paraguayan government submitted a bill to Congress on 12 October proposing to replace Conajzar with a more independent National Directorate of Gambling, Dinajzar. Former Conajzar head Javier Balbuena said the proposed regulator would be able to target unauthorised gambling websites and payment providers; he identified licensing periods and revenue distribution as the main areas of disagreement.
The proposed powers and licensing framework could change how online gambling operators are regulated in Paraguay.
