ONJN identifies alleged tax underpayments by Romanian gambling operators

Enforcement & compliance

Romania’s National Office for Gambling (ONJN) identified alleged reporting irregularities among gambling operators, according to the report. It said one remote operator had missed RON 5 million in payments and a slot-machine company had failed to pay about RON 18 million; the allegations concern reported player winnings.

The alleged underpayments could prompt closer tax and reporting scrutiny for gambling operators in Romania.
