ONJN expands checks on Class II operators and illegal gambling in Romania
Romania’s ONJN announced expanded inspections of Class II licensees and a WhatsApp channel for reports of illegal gambling. The authority said violations found in inspections may be referred to prosecutors and could lead it to propose licence revocations; since 25 April 2025, it has carried out 2,181 checks and issued 70 administrative sanctions totalling 1,785,000 lei.
Class II operators face increased scrutiny and possible referrals or licence-revocation proposals for facilitating unlicensed gambling.
