OKTO chief executive warns Brazil tax rises could weaken regulated betting
OKTO global chief executive Edward Chandler argues that proposed increases to Brazil’s betting tax could undermine the regulated market if enforcement against illegal operators does not also improve. The report states that proposals would raise the gross gaming revenue tax from 12% to as much as 18%, and cites R$7.9bn in tax collected so far.
The tax proposal could affect licensed operators’ competitiveness relative to illegal betting sites in Brazil.
