Ohio judge denies Kalshi injunction in sports prediction markets case

Regulation

An Ohio judge denied Kalshi’s request for a preliminary injunction in its case against the Ohio Casino Control Commission and the state attorney general, according to the report. The ruling found that sports markets do not qualify as swaps under the Commodity Exchange Act; Kalshi appealed. In Michigan, a judge also denied Polymarket’s request for a temporary restraining order.

The rulings leave both platforms facing state legal challenges while Kalshi’s appeal proceeds.
