North Savo court fines Finnish streamer €2,480 for casino marketing

Enforcement & compliance

North Savo District Court convicted Jouko Kärkkäinen, known as “pottukoira”, on 18 June for promoting offshore gambling offers to Finnish audiences between May 2023 and February 2024, reportedly ruling that this breached the Lotteries Act. The court imposed 80 day-fines totalling €2,480 and an €80 victim surcharge; Kärkkäinen denied the charge and can appeal by 20 July.

The conviction shows that promoting offshore gambling offers to Finnish audiences can result in a court-imposed penalty.
