North Carolina governor bars executive employees from insider prediction-market bets
North Carolina Gov. Josh Stein signed an executive order barring state executive-branch employees from using confidential information to bet on prediction markets. The order covers executive agencies, boards and commissions, but excludes the legislature, judiciary, Council of State agencies and University of North Carolina System; Stein said he had no evidence of state employees doing so.
The order sets limits on prediction-market activity for executive-branch employees while leaving other state institutions outside its scope.
