Newport World Resorts recorded net gaming revenue of PHP5.0bn ($81m) in the Philippines in the first quarter of 2026, down 15% year on year, according to a filing by parent Alliance Global Group. Gross gaming revenue was PHP6.6bn, while promotional allowances fell 23% to PHP1.6bn.
The results show operators a decline in gaming revenue alongside lower promotional spending and continuing weakness in VIP play.

PhilWeb appointed Lance Y. Gokongwei as board chairman, replacing Crisanto Roy B. Alcid, who relinquished the chair and chief executive roles effective 27 August. Alcid remains a director, and Gokongwei will serve for the rest of the current term. The company said the appointment followed Gokongwei’s ₱2.02 billion strategic equity investment.
Melco is assessing a possible online gaming operation at City of Dreams Manila in the Philippines, citing Seaport Research Partners after discussions with management. Melco has reached no decision on the proposal. Seaport said a digital offering could help the resort compete with rivals that already run online platforms.
It was reported that Travellers International’s second-quarter attributable profit reached PHP568m. EBITDA increased 13% to PHP4.4bn, with non-VIP gaming and non-gaming activity offsetting weaker VIP operations.
PhilWeb reported first-quarter 2026 revenue of PHP233.1 million, up 30.4% year on year, and net income of PHP13.9 million, compared with a loss a year earlier. Its quarterly filing attributed growth mainly to e-Gaming Solutions; the company also said it received PAGCOR accreditation and expanded partnerships during the quarter.
France's competition authority has approved Banijay's planned acquisition of casino operator Joa without conditions. The review, the authority's first of a gambling transaction spanning online and land-based operations, focused mainly on poker and concluded that the deal was unlikely to restrict competition. The authority said its assessment did not account for possible future legalisation of online casino games.
