New Zealand enacts online gambling law with 15 licence cap

Regulation

New Zealand’s new online gambling law allows up to 15 operators to hold licences, according to the report. The law also sets a 16% online gambling tax rate from 1 January 2027.

Operators must qualify for a capped licence and adjust to the new tax rate and player-protection requirements.
