New York Assembly advances gambling harm-protection measures

Regulation

New York’s State Assembly has approved a package of proposed measures intended to reduce gambling-related harm and strengthen consumer protections. The proposals include remote self-exclusion requests, stronger identity checks and risk monitoring, new advertising requirements, insurance coverage for outpatient addiction treatment, monthly betting activity reports and a task force on proposition bets.

If enacted, the proposals would add compliance requirements for betting platforms and affect treatment coverage.
