Negrescu backs proposed EU-wide tax on online gambling
European Parliament Vice-President Victor Negrescu is backing a proposed EU-level tax on online gambling, according to reports of his plenary speech in Brussels. Estimates presented to Parliament put potential annual revenue at €2 billion to €4 billion, while no draft legislation has been introduced and member states would retain their own gambling laws and tax rates.
A new EU levy could add to gambling operators’ tax obligations across member states if adopted.
