Canadian federal regulators issued a staff notice on Thursday opposing sports prediction markets under securities or derivatives legislation. The notice clarified their position on applying financial trading rules to these markets.
It was reported that the Senate rejected an M5S amendment and motion on gambling advertising in sports facilities. Senator Luca Pirondini had presented the amendment during scrutiny of the sports decree.
