Murphy and Casar propose limits on prediction market contracts

Regulation

US Senator Chris Murphy and Representative Greg Casar introduced the proposed BETS OFF Act in Washington, according to the report. It would prohibit prediction market contracts on government actions, terrorism, war, assassination and events controlled or known by an individual, and would amend gambling laws to address offshore platforms. The proposal has not been enacted.

The proposal could change which event contracts prediction market operators may offer to US customers.
