MPs urge Gambling Commission to pause financial risk assessment rollout
Nineteen MPs have asked Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy to tell the Gambling Commission to pause the planned rollout of financial risk assessments until a full evaluation is completed. They warned the checks could harm racing and betting, citing the sector’s economic contribution; the Commission said its pilot found no unintended consequences for most operators and that fewer than 3% of active bettors would face intervention steps.
The proposed pause could affect the timing and design of affordability checks for UK betting operators.
