New York bettors placed $2.45bn in online sports wagers and $4.6m at retail sportsbooks in January 2026, according to data released by the New York State Gaming Commission. Sportsbook revenue was $260.2m, including $132.5m in tax revenue for the state; FanDuel and DraftKings accounted for nearly 70% of wagers.
North American Derivatives Exchange, which operates Crypto.com's OG prediction market, and Ludlow Exchange, Novig's operator, filed separate lawsuits on 16 October challenging Missouri's 21-year age minimum and 10% tax on sports event contracts. Both argue that federal commodities law gives the CFTC authority over their contracts, pre-empting state gambling rules, after a 30-day compliance period following cease-and-desist notices expired. Missouri Attorney General Catherine Hanaway's office maintains that labelling a sports bet an event contract does not remove it from state law.

Both companies argue that federal commodities law gives the Commodity Futures Trading Commission authority over their contracts, putting them outside Missouri's gambling requirements.
The Missouri Gaming Commission reported $521,000 in tax revenue from the state’s first month of legal sports betting in December. The figure was below the monthly target of more than $4 million; operators reported $560.5 million in expenses against $538.8 million in online wagers.
Missouri lawmakers are advancing Senate Joint Resolution 109, which would limit sports betting privileges to professional teams located in the state. The proposal could end the Kansas City Chiefs’ eligibility for team-linked betting rights if the franchise stops playing home games at Arrowhead Stadium; the Chiefs plan to move to Kansas in 2031.
Missouri state senator Nick Schroer has proposed a constitutional amendment removing NFL teams from the state’s sports-betting framework. If voters approve it, the change would affect the Kansas City Chiefs, who plan to move to Kansas after the 2030 season.
