Peru's Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) said the International Association of Gaming Regulators (IAGR) recognised the country's progress in gambling regulation at the IAGR's 2026 annual conference, held in Lima from 19 to 22 October. Mincetur announced the recognition in a press release dated 26 October 2026.

The conference brought together about 200 representatives of regulatory bodies and public entities from various countries, according to Mincetur. Delegations included participants from Austria, Croatia, Latvia, Poland, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, China, Gibraltar, Finland, the Netherlands, the United States and Canada, among other countries.

Sessions covered the integrity of sports betting and markets, strategies against illegal gambling in Latin America, Africa and Europe, and the use of data to prevent money laundering. Mincetur said the meeting also addressed the challenges of supervision, particularly with the growth of online betting and the need to counter illegal operations.

This is the second time Peru has hosted the conference, 10 years after the previous edition in the country, according to Mincetur. In Peru, Mincetur is responsible for regulating and supervising casino games, slot machines and remote sports betting and games, where the regulatory framework aims to strengthen oversight of operations and user protection.

Mincetur linked the event to the development of meetings tourism, which it said attracts international visitors for professional reasons and generates demand for accommodation, transport and catering services. The IAGR is an international non-profit organisation that groups authorities responsible for regulating gambling in different parts of the world, and its annual conferences promote cooperation and the exchange of good practices among regulators, Mincetur said.

Mincetur restated its commitment to responsible gambling, saying it would strengthen enforcement actions and the development of authorised and safe activities.
