Minas Gerais seeks to join Brazil Supreme Court case on municipal lotteries

Regulation

Minas Gerais asked Brazil’s Supreme Federal Court to participate as amicus curiae in a case challenging municipal lottery systems in 13 municipalities. The state says the case could affect its legal and economic interests; its filing cited more than R$129m in lottery funding for state social programmes from 2019 to 2024.

The case could affect municipal lottery operations and the legal position of Minas Gerais’ state lottery.
